I’m in the midst of some pretty big career changes right now. I left my job in advertising and started working for the family business, doing all of the marketing and public relations. That segued into an opportunity to start my own consulting business — which I’m so excited about — and I’m in the process of setting things up to get it going.
One of my first jobs in my new venture is a part-time contract position with a non-profit hospice organization as a regional development director for their foundation. I’ll be out in the community meeting with potential donors and planning events to raise money to keep special hospice programs going. As a person whose never had to deal with the death of a close loved one, I wondered if I’d have the understanding to take on this type of position. But after spending a few days learning more about the organization and the great things it does for people and their families at end-of-life, I’m really inspired!
I spent the better part of the last week driving all over for staff meetings and orientation, and today is my first official day in my new office. I opted for an aubergine sheath dress and a cardigan (never know what office temps will be like…) and flats since I’ll be running around for most of the day meeting people and getting organized.
Can’t wait for what lies ahead!
