After a week of the Already Pretty Summer Black-Out 2010, I dove head-first back into black. But I really loved all the color inspiration from last week, so kind of reinvented one of my LBDs.
Like most ladies {ahem, this is me assuming my dress hording is normal} I have a small section of my closet devoted to the little black dresses. They’re classic and timeless, and have magic powers that make you look slimmer and feel more gorgeous just by slipping them on.
Even so, I don’t always show them enough love. They usually hang behind all of my day dresses, bored and forgotten, until some annual cocktail party or business event calls for them. I decided that it was time to give one of my favorite (and most neglected) black dresses some much-needed attention and make it work for a summer day.
How many little black dresses are in your closet? You can be honest and tell me the real number… there are no husbands here. How would you make them work for day?

    >I just found your blog, and I LOVE it!! I'm also a big fan of the LBD and I love how you've summerized (is that a word?) yours up!http://bonchicbongastronomique.blogspot.com

    >I would be ashamed if I actually went to my closet and counted – I have TOO many! I don't wear them as much as some of my other patterned dresses, but it's always so nice to have a fallback when your feeling rushed/fat/uncreative, etc. I love how you dressed yours up with that great pink necklace – it gives the outfit the perfect pop of color.

    >Hi Keira,You should check out Miss Vinyl Ahoy's blog. She has challenged herself to wear things she wouldn't usually wear, kind of like your black dresses hidden in the closet. I think we (bloggers) have the same thoughts that meet up in the blogosphere.By the way, you look great.

    >Stunning! Now that i think about it, i dont have a LBD. Can you believe it?! Reason for me to shop for one!

  • Fashion Butter 06/14/2010 at 2:10 pm

    >Well, since it is a husband free zone : ) …. I am gonna have to say like 8? or 10? But of course, every time I go shopping, I always manage to convince myself that I don't *really* have a go-to black dress in my closet … and end up buying more. Whoops.
