{These outfit shots are actually from the Spring, but I really love this look and thought it deserved its 15 minutes of fame. If I wore those boots right now, I’d probably have a heat stroke}

Yesterday was such a Monday. Since I asked you to share your manic Monday war stories, here’s mine:
As a preface to the story, you should know that I’m working three jobs right now. I work at my in-law’s flower shop managing all the marketing and public relations, I’m the regional development director for a hospice foundation part-time, and I’m starting a consulting business and picking up work for new clients. Every week’s schedule is different, and I’m waiting for my brain to explode any day now.
I overslept yesterday morning {as per usual} and really wasn’t feeling the whole getting dressed thing. I was working at the flower shop for the day, so I just threw on a pair of denim cut-offs and a ratty t-shirt with wedges, pulled my hair back, and opted for second day makeup instead of washing my face and reapplying. Gross I know, but I use bareMinerals and they say you can sleep in it (?)
I got to the shop ten minutes late, settled into my desk, and quickly realized that I forgot both my iPhone charger – which every iPhone owner knows is a must-have to get through the day – and my trusty day planner that manages my whole life (AKA, the bible). I planned to head home for lunch anyway, so I decided I’d just grab everything then.
So I’m working away, blogging and answering emails and writing press releases when an iCal notification pops up at 11:15 reminding me that I have a lunch meeting with the president of my advisory board for my hospice foundation job at 11:30.
$#@%!!
There’s no way that I could meet with the board president in denim cut-offs and a t-shirt! What the hell was I thinking?! Okay, obviously I wasn’t thinking.
The bad news: I live and work in a pretty small town with very limited options for such fashion emergencies. The good news: we were meeting at a restaurant in the same shopping center as the local Macy’s, and it was less than 2 miles away.
I ran out of the flower shop in a total tizzy, bolted into Macy’s, and literally picked up the first dress I could find in my size. My denim jacket was on the front seat of my car, and I knew that paired with my wedges, any dress would work to pull off a dressy-casual-not-in-the-office-today-but-I’m-polished-and-presentable look. I found one on clearance for $20, checked out, changed and freshened up in the restroom, and made it to the restaurant at 11:31, just as my lunch date complimented my dress! {What, this old thing?}
I was pretty proud of my crisis management skills in this situation. And after the shock wore off and the meeting ended, I realized that the dress I chose was a pretty good pick! I’ll be sure to point it out when it makes it onto the blog.
On a brighter note, we have a winner for the first Monday Morning Giveaway! According to Random.org, the winner is #10: shealennon! Check out Shea’s adorable blog, and come back next Monday to see what piece of my outfit I’ll be offering up.
