>Monday Morning Give-Away: Getting Gorgeous

06/28/2010 6 Comments

>I have to be at the office bright and early Monday morning, so I thought I’d get a jump start on Sunday night. Monday seemed like a good day to share a tutorial video of my daily 5-minute-face makeup routine. I am not a morning person, and I usually oversleep and leave myself about 30 minutes to shower, make my hair semi-presentable, and “put on my face.” I stick to light coverage with simple palettes for every day.

I’ve had a love/hate relationship with makeup over the years. I went through a heavy-handed phase in high school, then a totally bare makeup boycott, and later I battled breakouts and skin woes through college that resulted in endless experiments with brands and formulations. I don’t want to jinx it, but I think I’ve finally found a routine that works for my skin.

The products in this video are all of my favorite go-tos that I use nearly every day and couldn’t live without (all available at Sephora):

Sephora Collection Deluxe Antibacterial Brush Set ($60)
Rosebud Minted Rose lip balm ($7)
Korres Face Primer ($28)
Korres Watermelon Lightweight Tinted Moisturizer ($28)
Too Faced Shadow Insurance ($17)
bareMinerals All Over Face Color in Warmth ($19)
bareMinerals Heavenly Face brush ($30)
bareMinerals Flawless Face brush ($22)
NARS blush in Orgasm ($26)
Stila Smudge Pot ($19)
bareMinerals Flawless Definition Waterproof Mascara ($18)
bareMinerals Mineral Veil ($19)

For this week’s Monday Morning Giveaway, I’m passing on this InStyle Getting Gorgeous book. I’ve read it cover-to-cover over the years, and while it’s a little dated, (printed in 2004) it has some great tips and tricks for skincare, makeup, and hair styling. Just leave a comment with a few words about your manic Monday and I’ll draw and announce the winner in tomorrow’s post.

Shea from Bon Chic Bon Gastronomique won last week’s giveaway! Be sure to check out Shea’s adorable blog :)

    >i love your video! thanks for sharing. Did I mention you are so beautiful?! :) I wish I have your skin complexion. I haven't tried Bare Minerals, I'm tempted. I'm a Mac girl and seriously looking to buy some of your stuff! :)

    >Loved the video! I have been using bare minerals for 6 years now and I love how easy it is! Manic Monday = Work 9 hour day, pick up and feed toddler, go to hubby's softball game then have the WHOLE team over for a pool party!tinkr11(at)yahoo(dot)com

    >Girlie, you are gorgeous! I wish I had your complexion. I've battled adult acne ever since the ripe old age of 18 so I know how difficult the right combination can be to find. As for manic Monday… how about manic everyday?! Using Bare Minerals has REALLY helped to speed up my routine, but it seems no matter what time I wake up I am always in a panic to get ready. Maybe I should just get ready the night before and then sleep standing up. Ha! ;) Thank you for the fun giveaway!clogzilla(at)yahoo(dot)com

    >Most mornings I start of with sunscreen then go for a run. After washing my face with Purity by Philosophy I then proceed to apply a tinted moisturizer with SPF 30 (it's made by Dr Denese) Followed by Bare Escentuals foundation, blush, and mineral veil. On most days I wear mascara and eyeshadow, but I always finish it off with gloss.
