>Summer Style Bootcamp

My name is Keira.
I am a shopaholic.
I have been out. of. control with the shopping lately. It’s not that I’m out splurging on designer labels, but I am buying clearance and thrifted items in bulk like I’ll never have another opportunity to shop again.
So I’m grounding myself for the summer. A la’ Kendi, I’m reigning myself in with Summer Style Bootcamp, inspired by her 30 for 30 challenge. As a punishment for my financial misconduct, I’m limiting myself to a tiny wardrobe for the month of July with the hope of gaining a greater appreciation for all of the things I have and renewing my style creativity.
I’ll have the 21 basic pieces above, and unlimited access to all of my accessories (jewelry, belts, scarves, handbags, and shoes) to create a different look every day through the month of July. And {hesitantly types…} I’m banned from shopping through the duration of the bootcamp.
This will be a serious challenge for me, and I honestly can’t remember the last time I went an entire month without retail therapy — all the more reason I need this bootcamp! I feel like if I say it in this forum, it has some sticking power and accountability, unlike all the times I’ve said I’ll stop shopping only to find myself in one of my favorite stores a week later, justifying my compulsive buying. {I need these 6-inch Nine West platforms, they’re 70% off and I’ll totally wear them all the time… I’ll even rock these babies at the grocery store. Sold}
If Alyson can resist shopping for a year, I can make it for a month. It takes 21 days to break a habit, right?
Does anyone want to be my sponsor? I need someone to call if I’m having a total meltdown in the middle of Target when I go in for laundry detergent and find myself in the shoe section, delirious and drooling over these beauties.
By the way, according to Random.org, the winner of the Getting Gorgeous Monday Morning Giveaway is Cindy of Hellcat Vintage! Thanks for your super sweet comment, Cindy — it totally made my day :)

  1. >(I'm not sure what I did about the previous comment… I somehow deleted it. Oops.)Thank you for your comment on my blog. It's interesting how you followed Kendi's rule and adapted the challenge to you (you actually made it even harder by selecting 9 less items!).I can't wait to see your progress. It's going to be pretty hard for us shopaholics but I'm sure that supporting each other through this challenge is what's going to make it work.Keep the good work! ;)Rose @ http://www.roseetviolette.blogspot.com

  2. >Ooh, good luck in your challenge! Kendi is doing another one, and I've been thinking about joining in the fun. I don't know if I have the willpower though, both not to shop and not to wear stuff that's "not allowed". I can't wait to see how it goes!

  3. >You're so brave, can't wait to see how you remix all your great pieces. I need to do this but am too chicken (right now)!www.everdaywear.blogspot.com

  4. >Keira, I just emailed you! Thank you again for offering such a great giveaway. I'm so excited! :)As for the shopping addiction… I could spend every waking moment at yard sales and thrift shops hunting for vintage treasures. My apartment is literally overrun with vintage clothing and housewares!

  5. >I love shopping too! Probably comes with the love of fashion, no? What a great challenge. I flunked my $50 a month for 2 months shopping budget. I'm in serious need a sponsor myself. Good luck!

What do you think?
