>Game of Tag

>I’m new to this tagging friends and answering questions thing, but I’m into it! The name of the game is this: a blogger comes up with 8 questions, then tags 8 friends to answer them. When you’re tagged, answer the questions, then come up with 8 fresh ones and tag 8 other bloggers to keep the ball rolling.

Make sense? There’s a reason I’m not a teacher… my explanations are often cloudy, at best. In short, this is a cool way to get to know your fellow fashionistas!

Two friends tagged me recently, so I’m going to cheat take a little shortcut and answer all 16 questions in one post. The first set is from the adorable Natalie of Pocket of Presh!

1. What movie best describes your style? I love Anne Hathaway in Bride Wars. Her style in this movie (and real life) is timeless and chic — something I strive for in my own personal style.

2. Where do you find inspiration for your outfits? My favorite style bloggers, of course! I don’t really follow fashion magazines or what’s on runways. I’m really inspired by real girls with real budgets; and most important, real bodies.

3. How do you feel about thrift store shopping? Before I started my blog, I only shopped at thrift and secondhand stores when I needed a costume. When I discovered the style blogging community, I was really inspired by bloggers like Katy of Kansas Couture that did amazing things with thrifted finds. I started checking out my local thrift stores, and found some pretty cool stuff! I’ve been hooked ever since. If you’re a newbie, start with accessories. Mix thrifted handbags, belts, and jewelry into your wardrobe to spice things up for cheap.

4. What’s the next item of clothing you really want to buy? I’ve been on a mission to find the perfect dark, skinny ankle jeans for fall.

5. What’s your favorite color to wear? I really like dark grays and slates. I think they’re a great neutral and less harsh than black, which I have very little of in my closet.

6. If you could shop in any city in the world, what city would you choose?
NYC. Especially Beacon’s Closet, which Jessica refers to as mecca :)

7. Do you have an item of clothing from the past that you really regret wearing? When I was in middle school, I went through this JNCO jeans phase that I’d really like to forget. I had a thing for skater boys {if only Ryan Sheckler was around when I was 13…}

8. Which is more important to you when shoe shopping, style or comfort?
Beauty is pain. Fashion over function, every time.

Kiki from What I Wear in a Little Town tagged me next!

1. Who has been the biggest influence in your fashion life? Probably Anne Hathaway, again (I hope I’m not throwing up celebrity stalker red flags). I think she’s stunning, and her style is impeccable. She’s a modern-day Jackie O.

2. If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why? I’d like to live in Canada for a while. My husband was born there and his dad’s family is still there. I think it’d be cool to move there and spend more time with them, and get to know the place where he grew up. Plus, I’d like to be best friends with this girl.

3. Are you okay with alone time and quiet or do you prefer to be around people and noise? I’m a pretty laid back, introverted person.I grew up as an only child, so I’m content with my own company. I usually need at least a little bit of quiet alone time during the day to unwind and “center”: curling up with a book, blogging, or working on a craft or organization project.

4. What is your favorite piece of clothing that you own or have owned in the past? My favorite thing in my closet right now is my denim Liz Claiborne shirt dress. It’s really versatile and flattering, and I get tons of compliments every time I wear it.

5. What is the best gift you have ever received? My puppy, Doak. My husband got him for me last year, and he’s the love of our lives.

6. What is your favorite TV show? I’m completely addicted to Bravo. I’ll watch any Bravo rerun innumerable times,to the point that I can recite the dialogue. Bravo references pop up occasionally on this blog.

7. If you could splurge on one piece of clothing, shoes or accessory, what would it be and why? A pair of nude Louboutins. I’m pretty sure you could wear these with a garbage bag and still look like a million bucks. My friend, Lauren, has a pair and I stare at them longingly every time she wears them.

8. Leave us with a few words of wisdom. “Wisdom is accepting that some days you’re the pigeon and some days you’re the statue.”

Now it’s my turn! Here are my questions:

1. What inspired you to start a blog and share your style with the world?
2. If you dumped your handbag right this second, what contents would fall out of your makeup bag?
3. Which celebrity do you wish you had on speed dial to call for shopping dates?
4. Favorite Ben and Jerry’s flavor?
5. What are you most looking forward to pulling out of your closet this fall?
6. Describe your personal style in three words.
7. What are you currently rocking on your iPod?
8. What’s your favorite way to mix high-end items with low-budget pieces?

Tag, you’re it! If you’re up to it ladies, answer my 8 questions above on your own blog, then come up with 8 of your own and tag 8 other blogs. Have fun!
