pattern-mixing for the timid

top: Tory Burch | striped bermudas: I.N.C. | sunnies: Tom Ford c/o RueLaLa | wedges: Antonio Milani

Confession: I am not the bravest pattern-mixing style blogger on the interwebs. When I wore this yesterday, I felt like I was blazing a trail in new mixology frontiers; florals and stripes — quite daring for this conservative dresser, I thought…

Then I looked at the photos. And realized that the striped half of the equation is so subtle, from a distance they just look solid. There’s nothing trailblazing about florals and solids. Clearly I need to step up my game.

However, if you’re not a trend-obsessed style blogger and just want to mix things up a little in your day-to-day, may I suggest adding a bottom of the teeny striped variety to your closet? They add just a little something to keep things interesting, but won’t overwhelm you if you’re a pattern-mixing newbie. Like me.
