summer fun with fruttare fruit bars

fruttare

This year, we made a pact with our friends to make the most out of summer. We’ve spent nearly every weekend soaking up the sunshine, lounging on the dock, paddle boarding, barbecuing, boating, and even water blobbing {which is just as crazy as it sounds}. For the first summer in years I have a tan that didn’t come out of a bottle, and I’m loving every minute of it.

Of course, no Sunday Funday is complete without good snacks! We like to pack our coolers with light and healthy options for long days in the sun, and what’s better on a summer day than an ice cold popsicle?

I’ll tell you what: new Fruttare bars!

Fruttare sent us a few coupons to try their new fruit bars, and we couldn’t wait to sink our teeth into ’em. They’re made with real fruit and juice, and come in a variety of flavors, including a line of Fruit + Milk bars made with skim milk.

I grabbed boxes of the mango and strawberry ice bars, which weigh in at just 60 calories and 0 grams of fat per serving. As a devout label studier at the grocery store, I was happy to see that they contained natural ingredients and no high fructose corn syrup.

But how do they taste, right? They taste like real fruit, not some weird chemical cousin of fruit, and the texture is way different than a regular popsicle or other fruit bars I’ve tried. They remind me of sorbet on a stick, and ohmigosh, I love sorbet. I can’t wait to try the other flavors!

We’ll definitely keep these stocked this season. Summer, stay around a while longer, will ya?

  1. They have “Fructose” and “Corn Syrup” in it………. isnt’ that the same as High Fructose Corn Syrup?

    1. Great question! I’m not an expert by any means, but from what I’ve researched, fructose is the natural sugar found in fruit. As for corn syrup vs. high fructose corn syrup, the difference is in the processing. Corn syrup is made from corn starch, and HFCS is highly chemically processed and much sweeter.

I found this information really interesting: http://sweets.seriouseats.com/2010/06/what-is-the-difference-between-corn-syrup-and-hfcs-high-fructose-corn-syrup.html

  2. What is the unstructured protein in the ingredients? Could it be skin, keratin, melamine or what???

  3. These look refreshing and perfect for the summer days; enjoy

  4. I’ve been wanting to try the Frutares but they’re a little spendy for a college budget! I may have to splurge on this one though ;) they just look too good for a hot summer day!

    1. It’s a new product, so keep an eye out for coupons! :)
