Am I the only one who finds DIY French manicures impossibly difficult? Over the years, I’ve bought at least a dozen packs of these drugstore nail guide stickers to try to master the perfect clean tip, only to experience a dozen frustrating fails. The polish never peels off just right, you know?
Solution? Ditch the polish and draw the tip color with a permanent marker.
If you goof, you can carefully clean things up with a small brush and rubbing alcohol.
I’ve wanted to give this DIY mani a try for the longest, and I finally gave it a go last night. I couldn’t find a Sharpie around the house, but the permanent Bic number I scoured from the kitchen junk drawer did the job. Next time I think I’ll use a gold or silver Sharpie!
Note: I didn’t have much luck with a topcoat; the black smeared when I brushed the polish over it. The Beauty Department suggests a topcoat, so maybe be sure the marker is completely dry before applying or skip it altogether.
