hey, thursday, I like you.

Today, on the heels of my I-don’t-want-to-post-photos-of-my-outfits post, I give you… A photo of my outfit.

I’m a complicated woman.

Today was one of those days that was supposed to be like any other Thursday, but unexpectedly turned into an awesome one.

My baby brother called me at the shop late yesterday afternoon to invite me to his 5th grade graduation this morning. My day started bright and early at his elementary school, choked up and weirdly emotional about the whole thing: slideshows with cute kids and good music are my kryptonite; I can’t believe he’s going to middle school; I wish I had more time to spend with him; and, really, he may as well be going to college.

I’m so grateful that I was able to be there. Time is going way too fast!

When I cruised into the shop sometime around noon, my superstar staff had it under all kinds of control, so I gave myself the rest of the afternoon off. I took a few deliveries, did a little shopping with some LOFT cash cards that were burning a hole in my wallet, bought myself a copy of Sophia Amoruso’s new book, #GIRLBOSS, found a great full-length floor mirror for the hacienda, and now I’m sitting in a burrito joint mainlining queso and blogging from my iPhone. With nowhere to be, no deadlines to meet, and limitless iced tea refills.

What is this life?!

June 5, 2014, you’re a good egg.

Also, I wore these heels all day. Huzzah!

  10. Any day that makes you get all emotional in a good way, that isn’t stressful and contains a burrito is a fab day! What’s queso?

    1. Haha, the burrito was really the cherry on top. ;) Queso is gloriously melted cheese dip for tortilla chips.

  11. Congratulations to your little brother! We recently had graduation at our school and I found myself choked with tears, too. I remember my fifth grade graduation was simple; we walked under a little arch on the stage. Now there are slideshows and singing and dancing that get you!

  25. I love that skirt!

  26. That is basically my personal work uniform right there: pencil skirt, tshirt, and usually a scarf or statement necklace! Love that skirt, btw!

    1. It’s a no-fail recipe, if you ask me. The skirt is from Ann Taylor, but it’s way old. I love their pencils, and try to scoop them up when they’re on sale.

  30. Gorgeous skirt and heels!!!! Absolutely love this!

    1. Thank you so much!

  31. superwoman! love those heels. i’d last ten minutes in them.

    1. They’re a really chunky stacked heel, so they’re much more manageable for all-day wear. I can’t survive in a stiletto for more than two hours on my feet these days.

  32. you look so fabulous in this!

  33. He was so proud to have his Sissy there!!!

  34. Looking good today!

  35. That skirt. I’m in love. Where is it from?!

    1. It’s from Ann Taylor, but it’s years old! They have the best pencil skirts, and I usually try to scoop them on when they’re on sale.
