#OOTD: Getting back in the swing of style blogging.

Casual OOTD with Free People skinnies, cocoon sweater, BAGGU leopard duck bag canvas tote and leather flats. keiralennox.com
Wearing: SIMILAR cocoon sweater | Free People skinnies (high rise with a jegging fit and lots of comfy stretch; I basically live in these.) | BAGGU ‘duck bag’ canvas tote in leopard (available at our flower shop!) | BCBG leather flats via Hautelook

I took a big ol’ blog breather last year for a few reasons: 1) the flower shop needed all my attention and energy to plan our relocation and retail expansion; 2) when I wasn’t working, it felt important to savor the downtime (work/life balance was the theme of 2015); and, 3) I didn’t know what I wanted to do with this place.

Maybe it’s ennui after five years of writing about my clothes, or a result of growing up and priorities shifting, or — wouldn’t this be wonderful — a “mastery” of my closet and personal style at 31, but…

I don’t put much thought into what I wear anymore.

At the same time, I’ve never felt so comfortable in my style.

(And I miss blogging.)

So it stands to reason that now would be a good time to get back at it, right?

Sometimes I think my OOTDs aren’t “blog worthy,” because I wear my favorite pieces all the time, love a uniform, and keep things super simple. If you like your style bloggers swathed in the latest Nordstrom inventory with beautiful photography and perfect winged eyeliner, my real life outfit posts — the majority of which will likely be shot in front of this cool wall in my flower shop — will definitely leave you underwhelmed. But if you’re just a regular girl who would like ideas for how to mix and match her everyday basics, I got you, boo.

  1. […] Getting back in the swing of blogging is helping me out of my t-shirt and jeans rut! It feels good to get reacquainted with my closet and put some neglected pieces in rotation, like these J.Crew jogger-style pants I bought on clearance years ago and never see the light of day. […]

  2. So happy that you are back ,you were missed !!

  3. YAYAY! You’re back! I liked your posts before, so I know I’ll like them even more now. :)

  4. This is a cute outfit! Love that brick wall, too, and I’d love a tour of your shop! :)

  5. Nice relaxed outfit! cute.

  6. I am a regular girl and I love your regular style! :) Always have.

  7. This. I actually despise when style bloggers are smothered in a $3,500 Nordstrom outfit because, hi, that’s not real life for most people. You do you, and be real, and I’ll keep coming back. Cause I’m just the real me, being me.

  8. I feel similarly with determining whether outfits are worth posting about! The way you said “If you like your style bloggers swathed in the latest Nordstrom inventory with beautiful photography and perfect winged eyeliner, my real life outfit posts — the majority of which will likely be shot in front of this cool wall in my flower shop — will definitely leave you underwhelmed,” really hit me because many of my outfits are not 100% planned out, or shot with hi-res photography, or even contain NEW items. It’s hard when you’re comparing yourself to other bloggers (which i’ve done), many of who have higher budgets, blog full-time, etc, but I think you just have to be true to yourself and I’ll stick with following you :)

  9. Welcome back! You are real life! (Plus I bought the AE high rise skinny jeans after you raved about them and I love them!)

  10. Good that you are back!! I really like your post and you look great!!

  11. Thanks for keeping it real and being you! Everyone is so unique in their fashion style and writing style; it would certainly be boring if everyone was the same. I am fairly new to your blog, and I’m so glad I found it. I look forward to more posts! :)
