Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base

A friend gave me a couple samples of Burberry’s Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base and raved about its natural-looking glow. I used every drop, and loved it so much I splurged on the full size. Now it’s a staple in my makeup routine.

Highlighting, or strobing, is one of the biggest beauty buzz words of 2016. It’s all about drawing light to the high points of your face for a healthy lit-from-within glow. The technique is simple: apply an illuminating product (liquid or powder) to the areas of your face that naturally catch light, like the cheekbones, brow bones, temples, center of the nose, cupids bow, and chin.

Once you start strobing, you’ll never go back. It’s an instant “wake up” for your skin.

I like my highlight to look natural and dewy with a subtle sheen, that just looks like healthy glowing skin rather than makeup. The Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base in Nude Radiance delivers a beautiful softly-lit pearlescent finish without any visible sparkle or glitter. It’s a hydrating multi-use fluid luminizer:  you can use it as a first “priming” step all over the face for a sheer glow, mix it into your favorite moisturizer or foundation for a custom luminous base, or apply it as a highlighter directly to the high points of the face. It blends well over makeup, stays where you put it, and never looks greasy or shiny. Beautypedia, my beauty bible, gives it five stars.

I use it all kinds of ways, but on most days I use it as a liquid highlighter over my base, blending it into my cheekbones, brow bones, inside corners of my eyes,  cupids bow, and down the center of my nose. For a little extra summer glow, I put it on my shoulders and décolleté (fancy!) when I wear sleeveless tops or dresses.

It’s a luxury splurge, but little goes a long way; two samples lasted well over two weeks with daily use.

I love Burberry’s beauty philosophy, centered around fuss-free natural makeup and glowing healthy skin. If their beauty collection is out of your budget, you can still find great inspiration in their makeup tutorials, and use your own favorite products to recreate their fresh-faced looks.
