In the latest installment of Things I’m Too Old For Now: I can’t get away with wearing my beloved leather flip flops and flimsy ballet flats to work anymore. We have concrete floors throughout the flower shop, and after long days on my feet, my arches are shot. I know the lack of support is terrible for my legs and back, but up until recently, my desire for cute outfits was greater than my respect for ergonomics.
I’m just not a sneaker person; for years, I only had one shabby pair that I kept around for walking the dog or outside chores. But these days — *cough* 30s *cough* — comfort is king, and I’m warming up to the look of vintage-inspired trainers paired with straight leg ankle jeans and a tee, and summer dresses dressed-down with easy slip-on sneakers.
I bought a pair of knit Skechers trainers before Mother’s Day, and spent the entire holiday week proclaiming my newfound foot comfort to my team (bless their hearts.) And now I’m on a mission to add a few more options to my closet that combine fashion and function with cute details like perforated suede, metallic leather, throwback silhouettes, and animal print.
I rounded up some of my current favorites below, and you can click the images to shop ’em! (You can find the blush high-tops at the top of the post here.)
