If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to add a little autumn to your makeup routine, may I recommend this $7 drugstore matte lipstick? I spotted the L’Oreal Colour Riche Ultra Matte Lipsticks on display at Walgreens last year and loved the shade range. I couldn’t resist grabbing a couple to try, and went back for two more the following afternoon. They’re still my top matte lipstick pick from the drugstore, and they’re perfect for the season!
Let’s talk about the formula: the super pigmented L’Oreal Colour Riche Ultra Matte Lipsticks offer full coverage with one swipe. Or dab them on with a finger for a blotted, lived-in look (my favorite way to wear them). If you’re matte-averse because you hate a dry, chalky lipstick *hand-raising emoji* you’ll love these. The formula contains ‘silky oils’ that add some hydration, so they’re lightweight on the lips and comfortable to wear.

These aren’t the longest wearing lippies, but I find they last for several hours. They require a touch-up after eating, but the oils in the formula add a bit of slip; you can freshen up and reapply without worrying about things getting dry, bunchy or cracked. (If you’re familiar with dry matte lipsticks, you know what I’m sayin’.)
I swatched the new MAC Powder Kiss lipsticks in store, and I find the L’Oreal Colour Riche Ultra Matte Lipsticks to be comparable in texture, finish and color for half the price. (Although the Powder Kiss lipstick in ‘Mull It Over’ is still on my wish list.)

I don’t think you’ll find a bad shade in the lineup, which includes a range of flattering ‘your-lips-but-better’ nudes for all skin tones. But I’m in love with these four for the season; especially Passionate Pink; I spent months searching for something just like it — a warm pink with a touch of peach.

The best part: drugstores are always running a sale on beauty, so wait until you catch a L’Oreal BOGO and stock up! I bought all four at Walgreens for $20 during a sale, which is less than a single tube of most of my Sephora favorites.
