Pinning pretty manicures is one of my favorite ways to pass the time on Pinterest, so they’re always serving up new polish inspiration in my home feed. When I spotted this beautiful watercolor design, I went on a mission to find its origin and ended up in an Instagram deep dive of Japanese nail artists.
These Japanese manicures are like fine art on fingertips. I’m in love with the super shiny jelly polish (it’s like lipgloss for the nails) transparent watercolors, delicate marbles, petite hand-painted flowers, translucent tortoiseshells and teeny jewels and sparkly bits, all designed around muted earth tones and bare nails.
I found this DIY tortoiseshell effect tutorial, and I think I’ll give it a try. I just need to get my hands on some sheer jelly polishes!
