Friday’s Five

Bucket of pink 'Secret Garden' roses in front of a gray concrete wall.
‘Secret Garden’ pink roses are our newest wedding rose obsession!

Happy Friday, friends! This week was a doozy and kind of a blur: I battled a 24-hr bug, started organizing all of our year-end financials to get to the accountant — I’m determined to make this the first year as a business owners that we don’t have to file an extension #getittogether2k19 — and drank all the coffee.

My flower shop family spoiled me over the holidays: I got a rose gold mini portable bluetooth speaker (with a magnet base!) that I carry all around the house to blast my podcasts and audiobooks + a copy of the new Great British Bake Off cookbook. I’m truly living my best house-mouse life out here in 2019.

As you can see from my notes on this page, I spent about five minutes looking up measurement conversions before I gave up, put these vegan espresso brownies on hold, primed a $12 digital kitchen scale from Amazon, and resumed the recipe on Sunday afternoon. Between my new scale and the yellow Kitchenaid stand mixer my parents bought me for Christmas a few years ago, I feel like I’m ready for the tent!

I’m a sucker for typography and product design (see: my Design + Color Pinterest board) and bought this elderflower sparkling water on my Saturday morning Aldi trip just because I loved the glass bottles. They’ll make lovely little flower vases for the kitchen when they’re empty!

Cappuccinos from n+1 coffee are my new favorite thing (and the ultimate productivity hack for flying through a morning to-do list). My bag is the ‘Hollis’ satchel from Neva Opet, an indie brand from Atlanta that we stock in our gift boutique, and we have one left in the shop if you’re local!

Getting a jumpstart on spring at the flower shop!

Ekk sorry to hear about the 24 hour bug! I’ve been down this week with a cold or something, feeling on the mend today. I’m shocked that the Elderflower water is an Aldi find, need to hunt for that. Sounds refreshing. Also, I found the “house-mouse” bit funny, I’m on the same page this month. Cheers!
