This + That

Summer is officially here! Despite it already being stiflingly hot in the sunshine state, I’m welcoming this lazy, hazy season with open arms and C and I are on a mission to make the most of it. We kicked it off two weeks ago with an overnight stay in Treasure Island to meet up with friends for a day at the beach. I booked a last-minute suite at the new boutique Treasure Island Beach Resort, which is officially my new favorite destination; 10/10 would recommend if you want to splurge on a luxe oceanfront hotel for a relaxing weekend.

The delicious gourmet burger concoctions in their restaurant, BRGR, are almost enough to justify the trip: after nearly 4 hours of beach volleyball, my husband took down a monstrosity of a cheeseburger covered in crispy onions, bacon and a fried egg; I polished off a black-and-blue burger with a big side of fries. Sun-soaked and food-coma’d, we passed out in our suite at 7pm, and it was glorious.

Now that we’ve documented that epic sandwich for posterity, let’s get to the things I loved around the web last week!

Katie Jane Hughes + The Anna Edit = my dream team beauty influencer collaboration. KJH gave Anna a glowy skin makeup look, and I can’t wait to watch.

Over on design*sponge, 10 women in creative careers talk about how to learn and grow from failure at work.

My house smells so clean and summery right now, thanks to a fresh ‘Blue Jean’ candle* from Capri Blue.

If you’re in the market for reading recommendations, Grace rounded up her favorite Bookstagram accounts for all us bookworms on Instagram. (I’m just diving into The Cactus by Sarah Haywood on my Kindle*.)

In case you missed it, my new favorite swimsuit was a $27 Amazon find.

I’m bookmarking The Coveteur’s guide to getting any stain out in 60 seconds; heaven knows I’ll need it sooner than later.

I bought this multi-tasking clean beauty lip and cheek color* in ‘spell’ after seeing @makeupblake use it in an Instagram tutorial, and it’s one of my favorite beauty buys of the last several months.

I finally watched the first season of Killing Eve on Hulu and loved it. I’m also really into the soundtrack on Spotify; here’s an interesting look at how the soundtrack was made and why music is an integral part of the series.

I think I’m on board with this linen-pajamas-as-summer-daywear theory.

Decorating on a budget? A Pair & A Spare shared seven things she always buys secondhand for her home. (I suddenly want a collection of big woven baskets for storage.)

Speaking of, I’m obsessed with these cement planters that look like baskets* from cb2. They’d be so cute by our front door!

  1. I canโ€™t decide which view is better, the palm trees or the burger! Makes me miss my days as a Floridian.

    1. Haha, I feel this conundrum on a deep level. ๐Ÿ˜‚ (Donโ€™t miss it too much; weโ€™re already in the 90s every day and we have a LOT of summer to go.)
