Style Files: What I Wore Last Week

Last week is kind of a blur: Chad took a week-long trip to Canada, and I kept myself really busy with work at the shop and chores around the house to distract myself from missing him too much. I crashed hard this weekend and spent both Saturday and Sunday hanging around the house in my PJs, watching tv, and taking allll the naps. We have a short work week because of the holiday, but with three events on the books + our daily orders, it’s going to be an action-packed four days.

Here’s a roundup of my real-life #OOTDs from last week. I got dressed in something on Monday, but forgot to snap pics; I was probably late and running out the door. C is the resident Morning Person and official waker-upper in our house (Doak loves to sleep in as much as I do) so it was a struggle to get out of bed every day while he was gone. But we made it!

Tuesday

I am very into the blushy-nude color of this beige H&M cotton shirt, which I paired with a fresh pair of Levi’s ‘wedgie’ skinny jeans (under $70 on Amazon) and my beloved Loeffler Randall velvet mules.

You guys know my Cuyana structured leather tote is my workweek ride-or-die, and they recently released a petite version that’s calling my name. I’d love to add the small structured leather tote in red to my collection. (Maybe downsizing would help me edit down the mess of stuff I think I need to carry every day?)

Wednesday

Another day, another button-down and jeans: this time an H&M Conscious cotton shirt (sized up for an easy menswear vibe) and LOFT distressed skinny jeans. I hardly ever skip tucking in my shirt — a partial or full-tuck helps define the waist and make us petite ladies look taller and leaner — but in this case, comfort won the day.

(Still obsessed with my hexagonal Ray-Ban sunglasses, if you were wondering.)

Thursday

I sized way up in this pair of Levi’s ‘wedgie’ straight jeans for a few reasons: 1.) sometimes you just need a roomy pair of pants for bloated days (you feel me on this?); 2.) they’re 100% cotton, so I figure they’ll shrink a little in the first wash; and 3.) I wanted a little extra room in the waist for tucking in chunky sweaters this fall/winter. For now, tucking in a cami and throwing on a pair of comfy heeled sandals = a perfect summer outfit for a low-key afternoon of flower deliveries.

Also on this day: I took way too much liberty with the messiness of my messy bun.

Friday

We had plans Friday evening to have dinner at our friends’ house, and since I knew spaghetti was on the menu, I planned ahead and threw on a black tee that morning. Ha! This black jersey tee is from H&M’s Conscious collection, and it’s a great everyday basic under $5. (A note: this tee has a good amount of stretch but runs small; I went up a size and it’s still a snug fit.)

I started the day in my favorite Everlane authentic stretch high-rise skinnies, but swapped into these petite ASOS Farleigh mom jeans in washed black before heading to dinner; they arrived in the mail that day and I couldn’t resist trying them. Like my other Farleighs, they have a ridiculously high rise, but I love the way they hold everything in and define the waist with a teeny bit of stretch for a comfortable fit that holds its shape. ASOS has great size options in their denim — including lots of waist and inseam measurements — so it’s easy to shop for my ideal fit. (These are a petite 29×26.)
