While I figure out a summer upload schedule that doesn’t include another unintentional 3-week blogging vacation (oops) I thought I’d let the archives do the work by highlighting some of my favorite summer beauty posts of yore. From minimal makeup routines and the best tricks for perfectly air-dried hair. And a reliable sunless tanner that’s the next best thing to a natural tan. I have you covered with everything you need for a low-maintenance summertime glow-up.

I Tried the Yoga Skin Makeup Routine
When I read about ‘Yoga Skin’ in Glamour back in January, I was all in on the makeup technique that mimicked glowing, naturally-flushed skin straight out of a workout session. It’s exactly the kind of skin-care-first, no-makeup-makeup routine I’m really into right now, and I couldn’t wait to try it myself with the products in my makeup stash.
I love the idea of a signature, go-to makeup look each season. A routine that makes you feel great, and that you can knock out in 10 minutes. (See: I hate mornings.) I think of this team of five products as a starting point for an everyday minimal routine. They work together beautifully to create an easy, glowing, fresh face for summer, with or without foundation. (I included drugstore dupes for most of the products, too!)
My Air-Dry Essentials
My blowdryer and I break up every summer; with the heat index in the triple digits, the last thing I want is to spend 15-20 minutes blasting my head with hot air in my tiny bathroom. In this post, I shared my best summer beauty #airhair tips and products for the maximum texture and minimum frizz. (Now I kind of want to go back to this haircut…)

If you’re a fellow pale girl, you know that bronzer can be terrifying. We’ve all had our share of too-dark/muddy/streaky catastrophes. But when you find the right one, it’s magic. In my ‘Best Bronzers For Light Skin’ post, I rounded up my favorites for a natural, healthy glow at every budget.
A note: the post is three years old. If I updated it today, I’d add the bareMinerals ‘Invisible Bronze’* ($28) and the Marc Jacobs ‘O!Mega Bronzer Coconut Perfect Tan’*. (The latter was a big splurge, but I’ve consistently used it several times a week since purchasing it from Sephora last August. I still haven’t hit pan).

Every Day Sun Care Tips
This post is several years old, and although I’ve found newer SPF formulations that I prefer for daily use — like this Prismatic Luminizing Shield with SPF 50* and the Tatcha priming sunscreen* that I talked about all last summer — it’s full of helpful information about sunscreen as part of your skin care routine (and I still think all of the products I mention in it are great).

This ‘first impression’ review of the St. Tropez Gradual Tinted Tan* from two years ago still gets daily hits. (We’re all in the same boat of trying to avoid fake-bake disasters, huh?) A sales lady at Sephora talked me into dropping $30 on it, and I had mixed feelings. But if you’re looking for a [nearly] goof-proof sunless tan this summer, I recommend giving it a go!
