plain grey tee

After a great — albeit, exhausting — weekend, by Monday all I can muster is a pair of linen elastic waist shorts, a super-soft tee I’ve had since college, and flats. Kids started school today, and preseason football has begun. I guess this means the unofficial end of summer… It’s been a good one, but I’m a little sad to see it go so soon!

never say never: 20 things I never thought I’d do before the end of my 20’s

1. Drive a {business} minivan. 2. Program the Sirius Sinatra channel into my car presets. 3. Prefer flats to heels. 4. Find gray eyebrow hairs. 5. Love my husband more than the day I married him. 6. Be able to live without a tan. 7. Enjoy shopping in thrift stores. 8. Regret quitting orchestra my senior year because I thought it was nerdy. 9. Turn into a decent cook. 10. Hate horror flicks. 11. Roll my…

I spy, I buy: a short shorts story

But sometimes a particularly tempting item is just impossible to pass up… Last week while perusing The Book, I spotted a link to a new post on a local friend Aimee’s blog, The Chiffon Chronicles. I love Aimee’s style, and her anecdotes on balancing mommyhood, a career, and the hectic…

I’m pretty stoked to have a short work day today. The Mister is holding down the shop and giving me the afternoon off to get ready for the weekend. Bless his heart. Today’s to-do list: Whip up a last minute black-tie/cocktail look for a local charity event, Champagne and Shamrocks. It’s an annual dinner concert benefiting the local symphony guild. This year’s event is happening right across the street from the shop, at a newly…

cozy

I think there’s something so effortless and pretty about loose fitting open-knit sweaters. Not to mention the snuggle factor; it’s like being wrapped up in your favorite blanket all day! Too bad it’s 85 degrees today and I can only go outside in 60 second intervals before overheating. It’s going to be a long spring and summer.

It’s been awfully windy the last few days, requiring a little extra cover to ward off the…
