Remix #23 of 30 :: denim jacket + dark skinnies + texture knit tank + stacked heel sandals Kids went back to school last week, and like every year around this time, it feels like someone flipped a switch on our slow summer pace and lit up the flower shop with orders, weddings and events. I would really like to wrap up my summer 30 for 30 remix by the end of next week, but I’ll probably keep posts short and sweet as I savor these last few weeks of sweet summertime — I’m so sad to see it go! — and get adjusted to the upswing at work. It always takes a minute to shake off the summer lazies and get back in the swing of things. ;)
Remix #21 of 30 :: roll-sleeve shirt + texture knit tank + white skinnies + stacked heel sandals Raise your hand if you still wish it was the weekend! This morning I got dressed in skinny jeans, went outside to take Doak on a little morning walk, nearly choked on the humidity, and ran back inside to change into a tank dress. It’s hard enough to find motivation on a Monday; throw in a 3-digit heat index and I’m basically useless. (I don’t even want to tell you how long it took to figure out what to write in this post, and I seem to have settled on talking about the weather. The summer brain fog struggle is real, y’all.) This outfit is from a few Saturdays ago, which was probably equally hot but required little-to-no productivity. This LOFT texture knit tank is on sale now and an extra 40% off the sale price.
Remix #19 of 30 :: olive silk cami + anorak jacket + white skinnies + blue suede heels Are you guys tired of this olive anorak jacket yet? I highly recommend putting it on your fall shopping list and dropping the $50 on it; I promise you will wear it to death. It’s made of tencel, so it has a lightweight silky finish that’s cool and comfortable — and machine washable! — and it’s the easiest thing to throw over, well, just about anything. Even though I really gravitate to neutrals lately, I love adding a pop of color with bags and shoes, and adding these blue suede ankle wrap sandals to my summer capsule wardrobe reminded me how much I love them (and that I need to swap my beloved leather flip flops for a heel now and then). Mine are several years old, but I found some cute blue suede options under $150. Roll over the images for details and click to shop!
Remixes # 17 & 18 of 30 :: shirt dress + wrap skirt + nude stilettos When your wardrobe options are limited, you have to get creative: put a wrap skirt over a shirt dress and it looks just like a cute sleeveless top. Remixing is all about using your favorite pieces in unexpected ways, which is why I love the 30 for 30 challenge. (I’ve also worn this LOFT tie-waist shirt dress over my white ankle skinny jeans, bloused up over the waist tie to shorten the length so it looks like a tunic shirt.)
Remix #15 of 30 :: floral wrap skirt + sleeveless blouse + stacked sandals Kicking off the week with two of my favorite things: a wrap pencil skirt and a coconut milk flat white. I lived in pencil skirts during my 9 to 5 dress code days. I think they’re the most flattering skirt style for my petite hourglass frame since they nip in right at the waist and hug my hips, and a wrap version feels modern and fresh (especially in a print). I found this floral wrap pencil skirt in a J.Crew Factory sale a while ago, but I’m adding LOFT’s black wrap pencil skirt to my fall shopping list.
Remix #14 of 30 :: black dress + denim jacket + blue suede heels Beginning and ending the week in the same little black dress. The best part of a capsule wardrobe is the excuse to wear your favorite pieces all the time. (The worst part: you gotta stay on top of your laundry!) I’m so happy it’s Friday. Our pretty little flower shop is currently under siege; we’re swarming with giant flies that literally popped up overnight. We just have to survive a few hours until we can close for the weekend and let exterminators fog the place. Owning a business: never a dull moment! So I thought we’d wrap up the week with some good stuff from around the ‘web: I loved the Buzzfeed post ‘Getting Rid of Clothes I Hated Helped Me Love My Body.’ Quote of the piece: “And so I will share with you what I wish someone had shared with me: If you open your closet and realize things are no longer fitting you, you don’t have to assign it any emotional …
