Whew! What a year 2011 has been…
A lot unfolded on the pages of this little blog. I spent this morning going through posts from January to December, and picked one post from each month that stood out as milestones and reader favorites.
Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, shall we?
January: I started incorporating easy DIY projects into the APP post rotation, inspired by A Beautiful Mess’ Project Restyle. My no-sew t-shirt necklace was the first big project I shared on the blog. Lots of fun DIYs followed, like this simple studded clutch using brads you can buy at an office supply store. I kind of fell off the Restyle wagon through the year, but I hope share lots more DIY projects in the new year!
February: We survived our first major holiday as new flower shop owners and I shared some insight into Valentine’s Day through the eyes of a blossoming florist.
March: I shared my closet confessions, and gave you an inside glimpse into the deep depths of my obsessive organizing.
April: My feather-duster-turned-clutch restyle was featured in InStyle magazine! This still blows my mind.
May: We packed up APP and moved it from Blogger to its new home in WordPress.
June: I did my first big blog collaboration with jcpenney. I feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to work with both big-time retailers and independent designers and business owners through APP throughout the year.
July: All of the changes and challenges of 2011 started catching up with me mid-year, and I started to get a little overwhelmed. I wondered if we’d made the right choice in putting all of our eggs in one flowery basket. I had a big dose of perspective one afternoon while running deliveries, and I haven’t looked back since.
August: We decided to start another business, and announced it to all of you! I think 2012 is going to be an exciting year for A Pretty Penny Designer Consignment and Vintage.
September: I did my first Manic[ure] Monday post — which I’m planning to get back to after the year year, BTW. Get your nail polish remover ready…
October: I got an amazing opportunity to do a fun DIY collaboration with Target to personalize a pair of classic Converse One Star sneakers.
November: I turned 27 and got all deep and introspective.
December: My head is still spinning from the holiday hustle and bustle. Posts were pretty sporadic, but I took lots of Instagrams.
I’m ready to bid adieu to 2011 and make a fresh start in the new year. I can’t even imagine what’s in store after all the surprises last year brought, but I’m ready! {I think.}
Happy New Year!!
2011 certainly was a big year for you. How exciting to look back at all you accomplished and then look forward to everything you want to do in 2012. I think it is going to be a great year. – Katy
