My New Favorite Swimsuit Was A $27 Amazon Find

Black one-piece swimsuits are my summertime go-to. I buy a new one (or two) every year to add to my collection, and look for modern-meets-classic styles with different cutouts, textures and silhouettes.

When C and I booked a quick beach trip last week, I needed a new suit in a hurry; after a winter of indulging in all the carbs and baked goods (no regrets) last summer’s swimwear was a tad snug. I took a chance on Amazon* and Primed this black halter ‘monokini’* after reading lots of reviews of different black one-piece suits and checking out reviewers’ photos to see how they would look on my body type. (This was incredibly helpful. Thank you, Amazon reviewers, who post real-life photos of yourselves in swimsuits on the Internet; you’re doing the Lord’s work and making a notoriously-frustrating shopping experience easier for all of us.)

Let me just say, it’s rare that I love the way I feel in a swimsuit — I’m usually happy just to be satisfied with the way a suit fits — but when this $27 black one-piece halter suit with a high-waist bottom* arrived and I tried it on, I loved it. It’s the perfect silhouette for me, with moderate coverage where I want/need it and a crossover halter top that accentuates the waist. The quality is really impressive for the price: the spandex material is nice and thick; it’s fully lined for extra coverage; the straps are wide and well-sewn so you don’t have to worry about anything snapping or falling apart; and it comes with removable cups for extra support.

If you’re looking for a great swimsuit for the season, 10/10 would recommend this one*. (It’s also available in other colors and prints.)
